Drumroll please…
Well, here it is. My first official blog. I’m not going to lie, I am a little nervous. When my brother (the master of all things drum related and computer related) told me that he had set up this website for me, I tried to go through what my first post would be like. The first step was to make sure this was an actual website, and not just a Word document like the Temp set up for Creed on The Office for his blog. From my limited computer knowledge, this seems legit, so I think I am in good shape. Now on to the blogging. As the subtitle says, this blog is about a good ole boy living in DC. A few months ago, I decided to pretty much pack up my life and move 12 hours away from the only place that I have ever called home. Hardest choice I have ever had to make, by far. I’m not going to lie, I have always been the type of guy that likes stuff to stay the way it is. Needless to say, moving up here is in no way keeping things the way they are. So far, I am pretty happy with the decision. I like my job and the people I work with. Living in DC (or the greater DC area in my case) is pretty much night and day from living in the bustling metropolis of Goodlettsville/Nashville. There are a lot of differences…some good and some bad. It’s nice to walk up here, and you get used to it after a while. How many times can you be walking down the street in Nashville and hear a helicopter fly overhead? Probably a lot. How many times in Nashville can you look up and see that the chopper is actually Marine One? Not very often. Even if the Boss isn’t in it, it’s still pretty cool. How many times in Nashville can you be walking down the street at 10:15 at night and actually run into your Congressman? That happened to me a few weeks ago…I think I scared him because I actually recognized him. Well, now that I have rambled about the cool things up here, it’s time to discuss some of the negatives of living up here. It can pretty much be summed up in 3 words… Sonic and Waffle House (ok, that was actually 4 words but you get the point). How can a Southern gentleman like myself be expected to survive without those two things? I would probably pay about 10 bucks for a cherry limeade right now…and there’s no price I wouldn’t pay for a waffle. OK, for those of you who are reading this that don’t know me that well (and if more than 5 people read this I’ll be shocked) I miss more in Nashville than just food. I miss my family and friends, 95% of which live in Nashville. I’m not sure that I am going to like how blasted hot it gets up here. I am sure that once the fall rolls around I will miss being able to partake in my unhealthy obsession…SEC football. So did I make the right choice to move up here? Time will tell I reckon.
So now that I got my first blog out of the way, I feel pretty relieved. I’m not sure how often I am going to update this, but I will try to do it often, even if it is just throwing a funny video on here or a random thought. So tell your friends about the new sensation spreading across the internet. I will be surprised if it takes more than a few months for Google to try to buy my site, but don’t worry…I’m no sell-out.
